that is created by the SportsPlus staff is optimal
for your recovery.

physiology of their condition, as well as the
nature and severity of the injury and how that
will impact their overall rehabilitation program.
Individualized Care –
Your therapy will be highly supervised, including
“hands-on” and “one-on-one”
treatment that is appropriate for your condition.
We treat the root of the problem
- At SportsPlus we strive to determine and treat
the root cause of your problem and not just
your symptoms. Therefore, when you fully complete
your therapy program, you should be in control
of your condition and able to prevent future
episodes of pain and disability.
Home Exercise Programs - Your
physical therapist, occupational therapist,
or certified athletic trainer will train you
with exercises and activities specific to your
condition. They will prescribe a home exercise
program for you that will complement the treatment
you receive in the clinic.
Equipment – The professional
staff at SportsPlus utilize state-of-the-art
equipment to help you achieve your goals as
safely and efficiently as possible.
PEAK Performance Enhancement Program
– Depending upon your goals, it can be…A
high intensity program designed to help the
high school or collegiate athlete improve their
athletic performance by improving their sports
specific fitness level; Or a personal training
program to help an individual needing help to
get back into a regular exercise program or
lose weight.
Aqua PT Massage System - A
machine that provides therapeutic massage, utilizing
36 jets of temperature-controlled water to relax
and soothe sore, aching muscles. This is achieved
while you stay dry and completely clothed during
the entire session.
When does my prescription
for therapy expire?
That depends upon the length of time that your
physician prescribes, typically 4-6 weeks. If
you have been putting off calling to set up
your initial physical therapy evaluation, most
insurance companies will honor it as being valid
for 30 days past the date that it was written.
Can I come to SportsPlus without
a physician’s prescription?
Yes, you can receive a complimentary screening
(see below) for your injury without first seeing
a physician. In order for your insurance company
to reimburse for physical therapy services,
a physician’s prescription is required.
However, if you don’t want to submit the
bills to an insurance company and are willing
to pay cash for the services rendered, a prescription
is not necessary.
Will my physician be involved in
my rehab?
The physician/therapist relationship is vital
to your recovery. That is why your physician
will receive a detailed copy of the initial
evaluation following your first visit to the
clinic. Your therapist will keep your physician
updated on your condition by providing him/her
written reports when your condition changes
dramatically or when you return to your doctor
for a follow-up visit. Your physician will also
receive a copy of your discharge letter once
you have completed therapy by reaching your
desired goals.
What is a complimentary screening?
How do I schedule a screening?
It is a brief (15-30 minutes) but thorough
evaluation of your injury. Once an assessment
of the nature and severity of your condition
is determined, you will be educated in the anatomy
and probable causes of this condition. In addition
to this, we will provide you with a plan to
follow to be restored back to health quickly
and safely. This may or may not include the
following, depending upon your condition:
- Following up for further evaluation with
your family physician or other specialist,
- Use of common treatment methods, including
some combination of PRICE (protect, rest,
ice, compression, elevation),
- Simple exercises including stretching or
strengthening in an attempt to alleviate your
problem, or
- Further follow-up in physical or occupational
therapy for more extensive treatment.
You can schedule your screening by calling
our office at (641) 753-6636 and telling the
receptionist that you would like to schedule
a complimentary screening.
Do you sell or fit braces and splints
at SportsPlus?
Yes, depending upon your condition and the
type of brace or splint that you need, we keep
a small inventory on hand or we can special
order your brace and usually receive it within
2-5 business days.
Are you open on weekends?
SportsPlus is only open on weekends during
the football season (late August through the
end of October) for our Saturday Morning Walk-in
Clinic. This is a first-come, first-served,
free clinic in which no appointments are needed.
A member of the SportsPlus professional staff
will perform a complimentary screening for your
injury or condition. The clinic opens at 9AM
for these fall season clinics.
